Hi, I'm DaniA qualified Personal Trainer and REBT practitioner passionate about offering an inclusive and safe space to help people build an enjoyable and a sustainable relationship with movement.
The fitness industry, its ideal of how we should look, how we should move and WHY we should move have made many of us feel isolated. And it really shouldn't be that way. I firmly believe that training, or movement of any kind, isn’t just for one size, or shape, or ideal, or age and it absolutely doesn't just have to be about being “punished” or "changing the way you look" for it to be worthwhile you investing your time and energy in it. Whether you are looking to rebuild a habit with movement or are brand new to it, my approach with every single client is to strip it back and help you find or rebuild a relationship with movement that is enjoyable, sustainable and works with YOUR body, not against it. |
Why I am so passionate about it....
My knowledge and approach comes from my lived experience, the latest research and ongoing self practice and learning. Because Movement really did help heal me - physically and mentally. From disordered eating, low self worth, regular burn out, injuries and grief. Finding a way of moving that worked for me helped me finally start to not only look after my physical health, but my mental health too.
And as a result, my relationship with my body improved, my work / life balance improved and I wanted to fuel and make choices for my body that nourished it.
And as a result, my relationship with my body improved, my work / life balance improved and I wanted to fuel and make choices for my body that nourished it.
The problem started long before me...
Decades of unrealistic ideals created by the fitness industry & diet culture has made movement feel inaccessible to millions of people. And I'm not just talking about the ideals of how we should look.
But the ideals of what a 'fitness programme' should look like in order to classify yourself as someone who is “fit and active”
Everyday I work and speak with people who don’t feel comfortable in a fitness setting so have never felt they could start, who have struggled to prioritise their health because they feel lost with what to do and overwhelmed by unrealistic expectations of what a “fitness plan” should look like. With people who believe they are never going to be able “to do that” because they have lost confidence in their bodies.
And this needs to change.
Because you don’t need to follow a strict plan or programme. Nor do you need to look a certain way to enjoy moving and looking after your physical and mental wellbeing. Training, or movement of any kind, does not look just one way, it isn’t just for one size, or shape, or ideal, or age and it absolutely doesn't just have to be about being “punished” or “beasted” in the gym for it to feel worthwhile to you.
You don’t need to be only doing one thing nor be a master of all trades that workouts 5 days a week. Your rest days can actually be “do nothing days” not “Active” rest days. If you have a week off because hey, life just got busy, you have NOT lost it all and don’t need to start again on “Monday”
I am here to help guide and support you in changing that. In finding spaces that you can comfortably move in, in ways that make you feel confident and strong in your body and that support you wanting to look after your physical and mental wellbeing long term
